Towing Somerset County NJ: Route 22 to the Somerset Hills
Towing Somerset County NJ · dispatched from Linden · $149 flat booking fee · $129 online · any hour
Somerset County runs from the Watchung ridge to Bedminster and down to Montgomery. Our trucks come from Linden, in Union County, so the eastern towns are a half-hour run and the far west and south take longer. The dispatcher tells you which before a truck leaves.

A towing guide for Somerset County, on one page
Towing Somerset County NJ from one dispatch line, with the drive time told straight
Towing Somerset County NJ is a NJ towing services provider that answers (908) 666-3168 for every Somerset town, sends whichever truck is closest, and tells you plainly that our yard is in Linden, so North Plainfield is about half an hour out and Bedminster is longer.
Somerset County is a long county. It starts where Route 22 leaves Union County at the Watchung ridge and runs out past Bedminster horse country and down to the Montgomery fields near Princeton, with the Raritan River cutting through the middle.
We are not a Somerville garage, and we do not pretend to be one. Our trucks leave from Linden, so towing Somerset County NJ drivers can count on from us comes with a spoken arrival window, a flat $149 booking fee, or $129 if you book online.
The honest map before the sales pitch
North Plainfield, Watchung and Green Brook sit roughly twenty-five to thirty minutes from the yard along Route 22. Bound Brook and Bridgewater run thirty-five to forty, and Somerville and Raritan about forty.
Hillsborough, Basking Ridge and Bedminster are forty-five minutes or more. The dispatcher says which band you are in before you agree to anything.
A truck already out west changes the clock
The yard is only the starting point on a quiet night. On a busy day a flatbed may be finishing a drop in Bridgewater or on Route 28, and that truck, not Linden, sets the arrival time.
That is why the first question on the call is where you are, and the second is what the car is doing.
One booking fee from Watchung to Montgomery
The $149 booking fee pays for a truck reaching you and hooking up the car. It does not climb because you are in Far Hills instead of Green Brook.
Mileage is counted from your car to the shop, dealer or driveway you pick, and you hear the figure on the call.
Paperwork an insurer will accept
We are licensed and insured in New Jersey. The driver photographs the vehicle before it is loaded and again when it comes off the deck.
The itemized receipt carries the business name, the pickup and drop-off addresses and each charge, which is what a claim or a roadside plan asks for.
Tell us the road and the nearest cross street in Somerset County, and ask how far the closest truck is.
Call (908) 666-3168Somerset County, area by areaHow a yard in Linden covers Somerset County, and where the long runs begin
We reach Somerset County from the east, mostly over Route 22 and I-78, so the eastern towns along the Union line are the quickest calls, the Raritan Valley towns are a middle band, and the Somerset Hills and the southern townships are longer runs we often schedule.
From Linden a truck heads out Route 22 through Union, Springfield and Mountainside, and the first Somerset streets appear in North Plainfield and Watchung. I-78 is the other door, entering near Warren and Watchung and carrying on to the I-287 interchange in Bedminster.
Everything else in the county hangs off those two roads and off I-287, which runs north to south from Bernards Township down to Franklin. Each call is placed on one of those spines before a truck is chosen.
The eastern edge along Route 22
North Plainfield, Watchung and Green Brook are the part of Somerset we reach soonest, about twenty-five to thirty minutes from the yard. Somerset Street, Watchung Avenue and the Blue Star Shopping Center stretch of Route 22 produce steady work.
A breakdown here is handled much like one in Plainfield or Scotch Plains next door, only a few minutes farther down the highway.
The Raritan Valley band
Bound Brook and Bridgewater run about thirty-five to forty minutes, with Somerville and Raritan close to forty and the Somerset section of Franklin about thirty-five by way of Easton Avenue.
This middle band holds the county seat, Bridgewater Commons, the hospital in Somerville and the ballpark, so it carries most of the county's traffic and most of our calls.
The hills and the south: longer runs
Basking Ridge, Bernardsville, Bedminster, Hillsborough, Manville and Montgomery are forty-five minutes or more from Linden. We still go, and we say so plainly.
For a car that is safe and not blocking anything, many people in these towns book a set time instead, and the dispatcher is happy to plan it that way.
Ask which band your town falls in. You hear the real time before any truck is sent.
Ask for a drive timeEmergency towing in Somerset County: wrecks, flooded roads and cars stuck in traffic lanes
For a crash, a stall in a live lane or a car caught by high water anywhere in Somerset County, call (908) 666-3168; a live dispatcher sends the nearest truck while you are still on the line, tells you how long it will take, and charges the same as a daytime call.
Somerset emergencies follow a few patterns. Route 22 collisions at the jughandles, trucks broken down on the I-287 grade, and roads near the Raritan and Millstone rivers that go under water in a heavy storm. The phone is answered at every hour and an emergency carries no premium.
After a collision on Route 22 or Route 202/206
Once police release the scene, you decide where the car goes. Name your body shop and the driver delivers it there, not to a lot that bills storage by the day.
The car is photographed before it moves, and those pictures help when the adjuster calls.
Dead in a travel lane on I-287 or I-78
Keep the hazards on, leave by the door away from traffic if it is safe, and wait behind the guardrail. Tell the dispatcher the direction and the last exit you passed.
Both interstates are direct dispatch for our trucks through Somerset County. Turnpike and Parkway shoulders are served by the Authority's authorized garages. Book with us and we take the car from the exit or the garage's lot.
Water on the road in Manville and Bound Brook
Low streets near the Raritan and Millstone rivers flood quickly in a hard rain. A car that has sat in water goes on a flatbed, and nobody should try the ignition first.
Tell the dispatcher how high the water reached so the right truck goes, and expect a longer wait while the storm is still on.
Late at night in the hills
A flat on a dark stretch of Route 202 near Bernardsville or a battery that quits in a Bedminster lot at midnight still reaches a live person. There is no overnight surcharge.
Because those towns are a longer run, the dispatcher gives an honest window and stays reachable while you wait.
An emergency costs the same as any other call. Get somewhere safe, then phone.
Emergency dispatchWhat happens on the callTowing and roadside help we bring to every town in Somerset County, NJ
Across Somerset County we provide local, emergency, flatbed, wheel-lift, accident, fleet and heavy-duty, motorcycle and long-distance towing, winch-outs, and four roadside jobs at one flat price each: jump start, flat tire change, car lockout and fuel delivery.
Local towing between towns
A car from a Green Brook driveway to a Bound Brook mechanic, or from Somerville to a dealer on Route 22 in Bridgewater. Booking fee plus miles, quoted first.
Emergency towing
Route 22 fender-benders, I-287 breakdowns near the Easton Avenue ramps, a stall at the Somerville Circle. The closest truck rolls once you say yes.
Flatbed towing
All-wheel drive, electric cars, low sports cars and anything damaged ride flat on the deck, strapped at the wheels, for the whole trip.
Accident towing
Winched if it has to be, photographed for the claim and carried to the body shop you choose in Somerset County or beyond it.
Fleet & heavy-duty
Box trucks, buses and tractors from the Franklin warehouses, the Route 28 corridor and the office parks off I-287 and I-78. Accounts on net terms.
Jump, tire, lockout, fuel
One flat price each, no mileage. Station lots in Somerville and Bound Brook, the Bridgewater Commons deck, home driveways in Hillsborough.
Winch out & recovery
A car slid off a wet curve in the Somerset Hills, a pickup stuck in a soft field edge in Montgomery, a sedan nosed into a Watchung ditch. Pulled out and checked.
Long distance towing
From Somerset County to the shore, Philadelphia, New York or another state on one flatbed, with the tolls counted in the quote.
Every service has its own page: emergency towing, flatbed towing, accident towing, heavy duty towing and roadside assistance. You never need the right name for the job. Describe what the car is doing and the dispatcher sends the matching truck.
Not sure which service fits? Say what happened and let dispatch choose.
Call (908) 666-3168Book online · $20 offSomerset County towing area by area: six groups of towns and how far each one is
We divide Somerset County into six working areas, from the Route 22 towns on the Union line to the southern townships near Princeton, and each area has its own page with its roads, its landmarks and an honest drive time from Linden.
North Plainfield, Watchung and Green Brook
The eastern gateway, about twenty-five to thirty minutes out: Route 22, Somerset Street, Watchung Avenue and the Blue Star Shopping Center, right against the Plainfield line.
Bridgewater, Bound Brook and South Bound Brook
The crossroads, about thirty-five to forty minutes: Route 22, Route 28, I-287, the Route 202/206 junction, Bridgewater Commons and the bridges over the Raritan.
Somerville, Raritan and Branchburg
The county seat and its neighbors, about forty minutes: Main Street Somerville, the Somerville Circle, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset and TD Bank Ballpark.
Franklin Township and the Easton Avenue side
The New Brunswick side of the county, about thirty-five minutes: Easton Avenue, Route 27, Hamilton Street, the Somerset section and I-287 at Easton Avenue.
Bernards Township, Bernardsville and Bedminster
The Somerset Hills, forty-five minutes or more: Basking Ridge, I-287, I-78, Route 202 and Route 206. A longer run, often booked for a set time.
Hillsborough, Manville and Montgomery
The southern townships, forty-five minutes or more: Route 206, Amwell Road, Manville's Main Street and the Duke Farms area. A longer run, planned honestly.
Open the page for your part of the county, or just call and give the road.
Call (908) 666-3168The full Somerset service areaThe Somerset County roads that send us the most calls, and how a truck reaches each
Most Somerset County tows start on Route 22, I-287, I-78, Route 28, Route 202/206 or Route 27, and every one of them is a direct dispatch for our trucks; the Turnpike and Parkway do not run through Somerset, so the Authority rules only matter if your trip starts on them.
Route 22 from Watchung to Branchburg
Route 22 is our road into the county and its busiest shopping strip, passing the Blue Star Shopping Center, the Green Brook stores, the Bridgewater dealers and Bridgewater Commons. It is a divided highway with jughandles and U-turn ramps, so the side of the road matters. Tell the dispatcher which direction you were heading and the nearest store sign.
I-287 from Franklin to Bernards Township
I-287 crosses Somerset County from the Easton Avenue interchange in Franklin, over the Raritan, past Bound Brook and Bridgewater, and up through Bedminster to Basking Ridge. Tractor-trailers and commuters share it, and overheating and blown tires are common on hot days. The direction and the last exit number let the truck enter on the correct side.
I-78 through Warren, Bridgewater and Bedminster
I-78 comes over the Watchung ridge from Union County and runs west across the northern part of the county to the I-287 interchange and on toward Hunterdon. The long grades wear on brakes and cooling systems, and deer are a real risk after dark. Our trucks work its shoulders directly.
Route 28 from Bound Brook to Branchburg
Route 28 is the old main road of the valley, running as Union Avenue through Bound Brook, through Bridgewater and into Somerville near the Circle, then on to Raritan and Branchburg. It is stop-and-go with driveways on both sides. Most calls here are no-starts and minor crashes, handled with a wheel-lift or a flatbed.
Routes 202 and 206 through the middle and the hills
The two routes share pavement near the Somerville Circle, then split: Route 202 heads north through Bedminster and Bernardsville, and Route 206 runs south through Hillsborough and Montgomery toward Princeton. The Circle itself sees a lot of fender-benders. Far out on either road, expect the dispatcher to quote a longer arrival.
Route 27, Route 518 and the southern edge
Route 27 forms Franklin Township's border with the Middlesex towns, running from New Brunswick toward Kingston, and Route 518 crosses Montgomery through Rocky Hill. These are two-lane roads with little shoulder in places. If you cannot pull fully off, turn on the hazards and wait away from the car.

Call from the roadsideWhat towing costs in Somerset County when the truck comes from Linden
A tow anywhere in Somerset County is a flat $149 booking fee for dispatch and hook-up, or $129 booked online, plus mileage from your car to the place you choose, quoted on the call; the drive out from Linden is not billed as mileage.
People in Bedminster and Hillsborough often ask whether the long drive out gets added to the bill. It does not: the booking fee covers the truck reaching you, whether that takes thirty minutes or fifty.
Mileage starts where the car sits and ends where it is going. A car from Somerville to a shop two exits away costs less than one sent to a dealer in Morris County, and you hear both numbers before you say yes.
| What | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Booking fee by phone | $149 | Dispatch and hook-up, any hour |
| Booking fee online | $129 | $20 off when you book it yourself |
| Mileage to your destination | Quoted on the call | Before the truck moves. You pick the shop. |
| Jump start · tire · lockout · fuel | One flat price each | No mileage. Tried first when it can solve it. |
| Winch or dollies | Only if the car will not roll | Named before the work, you decide |
| Night, weekend, holiday, fuel surcharge | None | 3 a.m. costs what 3 p.m. costs |
| Storage or release fee | None | The car goes to your shop, not a yard |
What moves the total up or down
Distance from pickup to drop-off comes first. The vehicle comes next: an EV or AWD car needs a flatbed, and a bus or tractor needs a heavy-duty unit priced on the call.
Condition matters too. A car that rolls and steers loads quickly, and one down an embankment may need a winch, which you hear about before the driver starts.
What never shows up on the bill
No premium for nights, Sundays or holidays, and no fuel surcharge. No extra charge for the long drive out to the hills.
No passenger fee, no storage fee and no release fee on a car delivered where you asked. The full breakdown sits on the prices page.
How a Somerset County tow goes from your call to the drop-off
You call or book online, the dispatcher finds you on the Somerset map and gives one flat price with an honest arrival time from the nearest truck, the driver phones when close, loads and photographs the car, and hands you an itemized receipt at the drop-off.
- 1
Say where you are in Somerset County
Call (908) 666-3168 or book online for $129. A road and cross street, a shopping center, a station lot or an interstate exit is plenty.
You will also be asked what you drive, what went wrong and where the car should end up.
- 2
Hear the price and the real wait
The dispatcher reads out the booking fee, the mileage and any extra work such as a winch. You also hear the drive time, whether that is half an hour to Watchung or closer to an hour to Montgomery.
No truck is released until you agree to both.
- 3
The driver phones when close
On a highway, wait behind the barrier rather than in the car. In a lot or a driveway, stay near enough to the car to wave the driver in.
On a longer run out to the hills, the dispatcher can update you if the time shifts.
- 4
Photographed, delivered, receipted
Photos are taken at pickup and at delivery. You can ride along at no charge. At the drop-off you get an itemized receipt fit for an insurer or a roadside plan.
The same four steps from Green Brook to Bedminster, at any hour.

What Somerset County drivers want to know before they call for a tow
The questions we hear most are how long a truck takes to reach Somerset County from Linden, whether the far towns cost more, which roads we work directly and whether the car can go to your own mechanic; the answers are below.
Is your tow yard actually in Somerset County?
No, and we would rather say so up front. Our trucks are based in Linden, Union County, and we drive into Somerset for every call. The dispatcher on (908) 666-3168 tells you how long that takes for your town before anything is booked.
How long will a truck take to reach North Plainfield or Watchung?
About twenty-five to thirty minutes from the yard, out Route 22. Green Brook is in the same range. Those are the closest Somerset towns to us.
What about Bridgewater, Bound Brook or Somerville?
Bound Brook and Bridgewater run roughly thirty-five to forty minutes, and Somerville and Raritan about forty. If a truck is already working the valley, the dispatcher quotes from that truck instead and the wait can be shorter.
Do you really come out to Bedminster, Basking Ridge or Hillsborough?
Yes, but it is a longer run, forty-five minutes or more from Linden. You hear the honest window on the call. If the car is parked safely, many people book a set pickup time instead.
Is it more expensive to tow from the far end of the county?
The booking fee is the same $149 in every Somerset town, or $129 online. The drive out to you is not billed. Mileage runs only from your car to the destination you choose.
Can you tow my car to my own mechanic in Somerville?
Yes. You pick the shop, the dealer or your driveway, and that is where it goes. The mileage to that address is quoted on the call.
I broke down on I-287 near Bridgewater. Can you come to the shoulder?
Yes. I-287 is a direct dispatch for our trucks through all of Somerset County. Give the direction and the last exit so the driver comes in on the correct side.
Do you work I-78 between Watchung and Bedminster?
Yes, the shoulders and the ramps both. Say eastbound or westbound and the last exit you passed, and wait behind the guardrail until the driver calls.
Towing near me in Somerset County: the closest truck, and how far it really is
When you search for towing near me in Somerset County, the useful answer is how far the nearest free truck is from you right now, and our dispatcher gives that number honestly, even when it is forty-five minutes or more.
A towing near me search in Somerset brings up plenty of listings with local-looking addresses. Some are real garages and some are answering services, and none of them tells you where the truck actually is. We would rather tell you the truth about ours.
Near me on the Union County side
In North Plainfield, Watchung or Green Brook, the yard in Linden is about twenty-five to thirty minutes away on Route 22. That is as near as we get to Somerset County.
Near me in the Raritan Valley
Bound Brook, Bridgewater and Franklin's Somerset section run about thirty-five to forty minutes, with Somerville and Raritan close to forty. A truck already working the valley can beat that.
Near me in the hills and the south
Basking Ridge, Bedminster, Hillsborough, Manville and Montgomery are forty-five minutes or longer. If the car is safe where it is, a scheduled pickup is often the calmer choice.
What to tell us so the truck finds you
The road and cross street, the store or station lot, or the interstate and direction. Add the vehicle and where it should go, and the price comes in the same call.
